Galen Newman: Landscape Architecture Innovation Project

The intention of the program is to provide a means of international travel to students through a virtual environment, not actual visitation. The main purpose is to provide a set of “Virtual International Tours of Historic Landscapes” to help enhance students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills through an interactive, detailed and more immersive three-dimensional environment which depicts the design of the natural and built environments in a diverse range of cultural, philosophical, and religious contexts from prehistory to the 19th century.  This provides a framework for comparing landscape architecture styles across cultures and time.  A workflow of AutoCAD, Google Sketchup, Google Earth, Adobe Creative Suites, Camtasia Studio, and Lumion Architectural Visualization softwares were employed to create the final products.
